David Koma, a Georgian-born designer who had trained at Central Saint Martins, was appointed artistic director of Mugler in 2013. His collections retained the body-conscious architecture of the house's DNA while adding a rigorous structural discipline to the construction. He left in 2018 to focus on his own eponymous label.
