Naoki Takizawa joined Issey Miyake in 1982 and rose to become Miyake's closest collaborator before assuming creative direction of the main line in 1997. His decade at the helm maintained the house's tradition of textile innovation while bringing a lighter, more wearable sensibility to the collections. He left in 2007 to launch his own label.
