Nicola Formichetti was appointed artistic director of Mugler in 2010, charged with relaunching the dormant house for a new era. Known for his work with Lady Gaga and his directorial eye for spectacle, Formichetti brought a post-internet maximalism to the brand — latex, prosthetics, and cyborg imagery that honoured the Mugler legacy while pushing it into contemporary subcultural territory. He departed in 2013.
