Valentino Garavani founded his house in Rome in 1960 and for nearly five decades presided over a vision of Italian luxury synonymous with red-carpet glamour, exquisite embroidery, and the color Valentino Red. He retired in 2007, passing the creative direction to his longtime collaborators Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli.
