Walter Van Beirendonck graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp in 1980 and, as part of the Antwerp Six, showed in London in 1986 in a moment that changed fashion's geography forever. He launched his label in 1983 and has since made it a vehicle for political art, queer liberation, and anti-capitalist provocation — wrapping mannish bodies in colour, fantasy, and confrontation. He has taught at the Royal Academy of Antwerp for over three decades, shaping the next generation of radical designers.
