Gianfranco Ferré was an Italian fashion house founded in Milan in 1978 by the architect-turned-designer of the same name. Nicknamed "the architect of fashion," Ferré built collections on rigorous structure, sculptural volumes, and the signature crisp white shirt, bringing an intellectual precision to Italian ready-to-wear. The house rose to global prominence in the 1980s and 1990s—paralleling Ferré's celebrated 1989–1996 tenure as couturier at Christian Dior—and continued after his death in 2007 under a succession of designers.
