Vivienne Westwood is the mother of British fashion — the designer who invented punk style in the 1970s with Malcolm McLaren and spent the following five decades translating subcultural energy into historical couture, environmental activism, and a uniquely chaotic glamour. Her archives — tartan, corsets, elevated platform shoes, deconstructed tailoring — constitute one of the richest bodies of work in twentieth-century fashion. She died in December 2022; the house continues under her husband and longtime creative collaborator Andreas Kronthaler.
